Thrifty Thursday: CC Skye Braided Knot Mesh Cuff at a Bargain

I’m not typically one to place blame on anyone but myself in most situations; but in the case of braids I must do something completely out of character and simply confess…I blame Alexander Wang! If not for Mr. Wang’s bevy of beauties parading up and down the Spring/Summer 2010 runways with side braids tightly woven into their luscious locks perhaps I would have found myself obsessed with a different type of detailing; but alas, my exposure to such a style has left me seeking out braided embellishments in an attempt to add a touch of Wang wonderment to my very own wardrobe. Hence the reason why I am currently head over heels for CC Skye’s Braided Knot Mesh Cuff.

Dolls, so very rarely does one encounter an accessory with the power to truly transform one’s look with its mere presence; the Braided Knot Mesh Cuff, however, retains such an ability. Aesthetically it is reminiscent of the hoard of snakes making up Medusa’s hair; a gilded version of slithering reptilian creatures intertwined about your wrist. Oversized and statement-inducing, it is a piece of frippery that is feminine, dainty, and sophisticated mingling side by side with stubborn and antagonistic influences which easily contribute a touch of grunge to your look du jour.

While, in the words of Mary Poppins, it is ”…practically perfect in every way” there is a very important aspect to take into consideration which is downright devastating – especially for the girl looking to add a dash of flirty, yet completely rebellious flair to her person. That downside, I’m sorry to tell you kitty cats, is the concept of price.

I am the first to admit that the Braided Knot Mesh Cuff is a slice of celestial savvy with the ability to update one’s style simply by donning it; but at $110.00 it is well out of my price range. To be completely honest, I just don’t have it in me to spend such an exorbitant amount of money on a sole item. I do, however, have the $22.00 required to add its more affordable cousin, the Knotted Metal Mesh Cuff, to my accessory drawer.

Though not available in gold, the pewter hue of the Knotted Metal Mesh Cuff is just as versatile as the CC Skye original, with the added bonus of proffering a splash of medieval influence to the wardrobe of the wearer. Now all that’s needed is a knight in shining armor and you’ll be good to go!

What’s the verdict, lovelies…will you be thrifty or spend, spend, spend?

Fashionably yours!
