Hi, I Adore You...

Adoring: Scanty, seductive, skin-skimming dresses of velvety construction that dip daringly low in le back a la American Apparel’s Stretch Velvet Double U-Neck Mini Dress. For the record, Je suis obsédé with the navy; yet convinced that one’s wardrobe is incomplete without all six saucy shades – bloody red, black, burgundy, green, navy, and winter sky; Fancy footwear made to take on the appearance of cute critters like the Mouse Slippers with Sherpa Lining in Navy from Marc by Marc Jacobs. Quite the clever way to welcome a mouse into the house this winter, mais oui?; Chain-mail inspired baubles feminized with oversized chiffon bows – specifically Club Monaco’s Chunky Stretch Bracelet; Deepa Gurnani’s Crystal Wave Headband – a hair accessory with the power to transform the wearer into a Goddess merely by slipping it on. J’adore!; Fabulously foiled skirts that are equal parts flippy and flirty such as Dallin Chase’s Ross Skirt; Rhinestone-encrusted tops that shimmer and sparkle in a fashion synonymous with laughing champagne a la LaROX LUXE’s Glamour Tank; Glittering frippery capable of bringing one’s inner royal courtesy of Club Monaco’s Marquis Ring.

Tell me, my loves; what are you currently adoring?

Smitten Saturday

Get the Boot!…because fabulous boots are essential even in the dead of summer; and you truly cannot get more fabulous than Penelope and Coco. Each shoe is handmade by designer Marisa Spinella in her Los Angeles studio, making the creations one-of-a-kind. The only hard part is deciding which to splurge on – Capone, GypsyRose, Riina, RubyK, or Millet. I believe I hear Miss Riina calling my name. Which Penelope and Coco creation is calling yours, dolls?

A Rose By Any Other Name…because there are no rules stating that children’s books are intended only for children; and when they are as dainty and delicate as Madonna’s The English Roses Collection, they are an absolute necessity – especially for the fashionista. As precocious as Eloise, as flowery as Shakespeare; don’t deny it, kitty cats – you know you want to add these to your home library!

Beauty and the Case…because a true glamorous girl deserves a suitcase, beauty case, or entire travel collection that is just as stylish as she; and that is precisely what the Britto Collection offers. Each piece is embellished with kitschy colors, avant-garde designs, and an Andy Warhol effect that is sure to give onlookers luggage envy. Which Britto Collection offering is your favorite, my loves?

Joy to the…Bath?…because every girl deserves a little soak in the tub to clear her head; but no soak is complete without some yummy smelling bath salts like the ones from Joyful Bath Co. Choose from ‘Nilla Buttermilk, Citrus Buzz, Oatsy Floatsie, Ginger Snap, Mellow Yellow, or Green Tea Glee. The best part? Each purchase is accompanied by an ambrosial Bath in Progress doorhanger to ensure that you’re not disturbed!

Head Case…because turbans are back with a bang, and no accessory drawer is complete without at least a few peeking out from inside; luckily, GoldSaturn provides you with an abundance of colors and patterns to choose from. I have my eye on Coral Sunset; which shade are you lusting over, lovers?

What were you smitten with this week?

Fashionably yours!

Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary…because every girl should feel like a fairytale princess; and she can…with ban.do’s She Lives A Fairy Tale Halo. Vintage berries, satin leaves, and velvet baby’s breath sit pretty upon a halo the color of rust, embellished with gold thread. Magic is in the air, my loves!

Baby Let’s Cruise...because summer is downright incomplete without a cute bike by your side perfect for impromptu beach excursions with cute boys. With VillyCustoms.com, you can create the one of your dreams. Choose your desired shape, colors, and accessories (a basket for me!), and bring the bike Santa never delivered on Christmas Eve to life!

Traveling Toes…because your feet shouldn’t be stuck in one place, even if you’re too busy for a vacation. Pretty Ballerinas’ Around the World Ballerina Flats bring travel to your toes via slip-ons adorned in the flag of ten different countries – USA, Italy, Spain, Germany, Britain, France, Canada, Japan, Argentina, and Brazil. Where are your feet off to today, kitty cats?

Tote for One…because, in the words of Marilyn Monroe, “…it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring”; and being boring is completely out of the question with an Upcycled Street Banner Bag from Poketo! in tow. Street banners from Seoul, South Korea are morphed into shopping totes that are equal parts eco-friendly and fun. Plus…they’re one-of-a-kind!

In It to Mix It…because no girl should have to spend her time plucking unloved pieces out of her snack mix; and now she doesn’t have to. My Mixed Nuts allows you to create your very own blend of trail mix so that it suits your likes to a T – as long as mine includes M&M’s and raisins I’ll be happy as a clam!

Smitten Saturday

Rescue 9-1-1 Darlings The Beatles said it best with the lyrics “Help! I need somebody…”, but at this particular moment it is not “somebody” who will cure my ailments; rather it is something. Help Remedies, to be more specific.

While I literally carry everything but the kitchen sink in my handbag, magically I’m always lacking the one item I need to cure what currently ails me. I have sleeping pills when I need aspirin; band-aids when I need allergy medicine; or ibuprofen when I need hydrocolloid. I think my unprepared-ness stems from the fact that I simply can’t be bothered to lug around a drugstore wherever I go; yet I am convinced that Help Remedies will set me on the right track in the chicest of ways. Their line of antidotes forgo the typical tacky pill bottles sitting in a jumbled mess on shop shelves and come in cute color-coded biodegradable containers – each one a cure-all for your current sickness. Battling a blister from your pretty yet painful pumps? Help I Have a Blister can patch it up. Combating a killer headache after that sample sale? Help I Have a Headache will alleviate the pain. I imagine I’ll need to pop all six packages into my purse – you never know when they’ll come in handy!

Queen of Hearts I wouldn’t recommend this sort of behavior for just anyone, darlings, as it leads to ultimate heartbreak in the end – at least it has in my world; but I’ve always been one to wear my heart on my sleeve. To lay it all on the line, and remain unmasked in any and all situations. But I have had – no pun intended – a change of heart. No longer will my heart be worn upon my sleeve; but rather, atop my head in the form of the heavenly hair accessories crafted by mother daughter design duo Old Soul, New Heart.

Together, Tamara and Shea spend their off-time seeking out vintage trinkets at flea markets and estate sales, than work their crafty magic to transform them into new pieces with glamorous old souls. And as if the beauty of these creations isn’t enough to pique your interest, the adorable titles for each knickknack most certainly will. Currently my heart belongs to Lookin’ for a Beau, Meet Me on Park Ave., Flirt, Only Slightly Revealing, She Gossips, But Quietly, and Cookies for Breakfast. Which Old soul, New Heart offering will morph you into the Queen of Hearts?

Sealed with a Kiss Since there are currently no interesting, cute boys around whom I’d like to shower with kisses, I have decided that the best course of action is not to live life without a little peck here and there; but rather to obtain my smooches elsewhere – and no place seems as satisfying than via a tiny trinket that I can clasp around my throat. A glittering bauble that won’t talk back, question me about my whereabouts, or deem it appropriate to skip out on movie night to hang out with his “boys.” Darlings I know that the pieces in question are unable to provide the same tender, love, and care as a cute boy is able to; but at least their petite pouts will fill the void until I find someone new to swoon over.

I imagine the Yellow Gold Kiss Kiss Petite Necklace by Jules Smith has the power to reel cute boys in by the dozen due to its sassy smirk which drapes decadently over your chest; a place where it will look utterly bewitching lying over a plain white tee. Sears’ Pink Sapphire Lip Necklace, on the other hand, is a bit of frippery that I am simply incapable of keeping hush hush about courtesy of the sapphire-embellished pink lips which seemingly wink at the world with every single sashay, strut, or step you take. Unleashing the smoldering sophisticate within is bound to be a piece of cake with Lulu Guinness’ Lips & Lipstick Pendant Necklace in White Bronze cinched around my throat. And really…what better way to start the day than with a wee love letter coiled around my collar in the form of Lulu Guinness’ Cream with Love Envelope Charm Necklace. Are you ready to sprinkle your accessory collection with a few kisses, kittens?

What were you smitten with this week?

Fashionably yours!

Smitten Saturday

Nude Attitude For me, nude lips have always been marred by a slick covering of gloss. I never felt the need to attempt a coloring that was skin colored; quite the opposite in fact. I thought that the shimmering sheen was a more powerful way to complement big, bold lashes. I think now that I was wrong. While gloss will forever be my cosmetic version of a cute courter, I had a teeny tiny tryst with mark’s Glow Baby Glow Hook Up Lip Gloss in Peek-A-Boo a handful of days ago wherein I came to the conclusion that nude lips fall flirtily between two very fine lines – naughty and nice. On the one hand they retain savoir faire; on the other they’re seductive and smoldering – a mix that I simply cannot live without. Thus the reason why my makeup bag will be welcoming three new additions – mark’s Dew Drenched Moisturlicious Lip Color in Skinny Dip, Dior’s Dior Addict High Shine Lipstick in Nude Silhouette 214, and Sephora’s Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss in Birthday Suit. Are you longing for a nude attitude kitty cats?

Cowl Girl For far too long I ignored the elegance of the cowl. I misunderstood the air of sophistication it could lend to a fairly understated ensemble; or the volume it could provide a more streamlined style. But I have learned the error of my ways, kittens. It may have been a long time coming, but I finally realized that a cowl is chicly controversial if done right. It is cosmopolitan and classic juxtaposed with a hint of bohemian ruggedness. Hence the reason one should never find their wardrobe lacking such an accoutrement. Dazzle in Free People’s Convertible Sequin Cowl; enchant in Haute Hippie’s Bias Sequin Cowl Dress; be flirty and seductive with Bop Basics’ Cashmere Sweater with Oversized Cowl Neck; and taunt and tease cute boys via the hint of décolletage displayed when donning Helmut Lang’s Cowl Neck Sweater. Come clean ladies…don’t you want to be a cowl girl?

Strappy Style Mes chéris, just because you’ve never actually toured my closet, doesn’t mean that you haven’t heard countless stories. I’ve described my large amassment of dark wash skinnies and countless pairs of boots (all in differing heights and shades, mind you) to a T; providing you with a verbal view of my beloved wardrobe. Yet even I am not above wardrobe malfunctions when it comes to fashion – especially when it involves pairing said boots with the aforementioned skinnies. Cuffing my jeans, taping them down, folding…I have tried it all, and encountered unflattering wrinkles about the knees no matter what; hence the reason I am thrilled to have finally fallen upon Jean Straps. Clip the garter strap-like contraption across the hem of your jeans stirrup style and slip your foot into your desired shoe for a slim, simple fit. It’s a strapping solution for the boot bulge that afflicts your denim du jour. Ready to get strappy?

Jailhouse Rock The mere thought of being locked up in a jail cell frightens me more than you can even imagine, loves; yet I can’t help but be completely obsessed with fashions featuring horizontal black and white stripes that are sure to make me look like an escaped prisoner – a fashionable one, of course! The teeny tiny ruffles dotting the collar, paired with the flouncy ruffles about the sleeves provide a runway ready look to Collective Concepts’ Horizons Top – topping a pair of black sequin leggings you’d be nothing short of fierce. The black and white striped sequin skirt is the true piece de resistance of Lulu’s Show Off Sequin Dress – a frock bound to keep all eyes on you from your grand entrance straight through your daring departure. Rachel Pally’s Oversized Slouchy T-Shirt is a trippy way to dress up a pair of ordinary black skinnies. And honestly, how on earth am I expected to survive another day without Free People’s Striped Seamless Tube in Frost? Ready to rock your own version of jailhouse chic, kittens?

Gone Batty It is not the impending arrival of All Hallows’ Eve that has me batty, darlings. To be completely honest, as a child I was utterly obsessed with bats. I didn’t bring fairytales to bed with me before drifting off to slumberland; I held a book depicting photographs of baby bats in one hand, my beloved teddy bear Fuzzy grasped tightly in the other – a behavior which had my poor mother up in arms. When I look back on such behavior now, I wonder if perhaps my affections for the creatures back then is what made me so smitten with the style of batwing tops in present day. Perchance the flying night crawlers left an impression on my fashion sense which makes me interested in channeling their wing-like silhouette. Kittens I know it’s downright bizarre to credit a creature of the night for style inspiration; but obviously…I must. After all, for me to ignore the divine drapey-ness of such a look is completely out of the question. Rejection be-gone! I simply must embrace my batty side; and of course, I will. I am an absolute slave to the shimmer, shine, and radiance of Free People’s Reflection Sequin Sweater in Pimento. Forever 21’s charcoal-hued Dorene Sweater Top (which I already own two of) provides two fall musts in the form of batwings and a covetsome cowl neck – pair it with dark wash skinnies and cognac riding boots to make heads turn; trust me. While I would obviously prefer the arms of a cute boy to be wrapped tightly around me, the cocoon-like comfort of Goddis’ Slate Savannah Batwing-Sleeve Cardi would serve as a flirty alternative to such cuddling. And for a spot of romance? Darlings, you simply cannot go wrong with Beyond Vintage. Their feminine ivory Lace Batwing Blouse is dainty and daring – the ideal coupling for a whirlwind love story. Have you gone batty yet?

The Future is Now I used to abhor those activities in school in which the teachers forced us to write letters to our future selves…those obnoxious little notes which made us cringe as we carefully tore open the envelopes covered in scrawls scribbled with Crayola crayons harboring kitschy color titles years later. Mine was adorned with vampire felines who more resembled aliens penned in Sea Green – my favorite color for the first nine years of life. I’m almost positive that my letter consisted of talk about wanting a dog and such – the typical musings of a six-year-old. Now, I’m sure that my thoughts would be much more understandable – perhaps even achievable. Thus, I find myself wanting to do it again via FutureMe. This time around is sure to be different. For one, the dowdy Mrs. Jacobsen is not forcing me to take part in this particular exercise; and two, I don’t have to feel embarrassed by handwriting or ridiculous scrawls – all that’s required is a few minutes of typing thoughts about what my future holds, choose a date for my letter to be mailed back (do you think the year 2059 is too far away?), click send, and Voila! Once the specified date arrives, my petite note will find its way back to me. I’ll admit I find the whole thing slightly scary; but it piques my interest nonetheless. What would you say to your future self?

Le Colonel, S’il Vous Plait Let’s be straight, mes chéris; it is not in my nature to ignore the type of grandiose glamour put forth in the gritty days of old-time noir excess and decadence. Such refinement; such elegance; such delicate crafting should never be cast aside, or go unnoticed. It should be devoured in the same fashion as cupcakes saturated with rainbow sprinkles. And if Le Colonel has any say in the matter, it most certainly will. Please remove all thoughts from your growling tummies kittens; Le Colonel is not the fried chicken wielding, mustached gentleman currently being pictured in your mind’s eye. Le Colonel is, in fact, the Jazz Age loving Julia, a French designer who weaves vintage hairpieces bound to make even Blair Waldorf weak in the knees. While previously collections have channeled the Roaring 20s popularized by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Julia’s current creations are more for the fashionable girl about town. There’s the chocolate brown Bucarest with crimson detailing that would look marvelous with a powerful red coat; the coquettish ambiance of the cabaret-inspired Vienne; even Varna, a black and red beauty trimmed in sophisticated beads. Quite simply, everything by Le Colonel is frippery at its finest; and every girl deserves a bit of that in her life!

Smitten Saturday

Boxing Beauty I’m not going to lie to you, mes chéris, I was a very peculiar child growing up. My formidable tomboy phase didn’t last for a trite month or two; non, much to my mother’s chagrin I suffered from a full ten years of refusing to wear dresses or frilly bows in my hair, resigned to donning baggy jeans and messy ponytails that were much more comfortable for playing handball for hours on end. Needless to say, my mother was quite thrilled when I dropped the rough and tumble act, and embraced a more feminine look complete with skirts, baubles, and minimal mascara. The one bit of tomboy that never completely drained from my body, however, was my passion for boxers. When you’re surrounded by boys in the schoolyard, all displaying cartoon-covered boxers from the top of their sagging pants, it’s hard not to feel incomplete without a pair of your own – at least, that’s how I felt. At the time, I wanted to wear boxers as a source of underwear; now I simply adore them for lounging about the house as they are incredibly adorable, and supremely comfy. The airy silk of Kiki de Montparnasse’s Briony Shorts are a beyond seductive way to add a little sauciness to such a masculine style. Charlotte Russe’s Polkadot Scroll Boxers, complete with a purple polkadot ruffle drawstring tie and corresponding back pocket are a childlike way to add a little playfulness to your loungewear look. And it’s downright impossible to ignore the lure of the prints embellishing Victoria’s Secret’s Knit Boxsie’s, ranging from the lollipop-adorned Sweet Blue to the Twilight-influenced Bite Outta Black, and sentimental Kiss Me Pink. Really now, with all of these cute choices who wouldn’t want to be a boxing beauty?

Big Bang Some prefer a clean forehead, shining in all of its fresh-scrubbed gloriousness; I prefer the opposite. A forehead full of fringe has always been the thing to make me giddy. No matter who happens to be donning it, I find myself loving the wearer and the style. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I have had bangs for more than half of my life, and truly could not so much as fathom myself without them; but I believe there is no more adorable look than…the bang. A simple, heavy bang has the ability to add an air of mysteriousness when worn long around the eyes; a come-hither type of hooding to heavily mascara-ed peepers that is both stylish yet seductive. When worn sideswept you retain a very peek-a-boo playfulness that is polished yet bubbly and effervescent. And you simply cannot go wrong with piece-y bangs that never fail at assisting you in achieving the crème de la crème of bedheaded bliss. Kittens, fall is the ideal time to take a cue from the stunning Zooey Deschanel, the haute Heidi Klum, the endearing Demi Lovato, and take the bang plunge. Why? Well, if the results are less than satisfactory, you can always pin them back or cover them up with a cute knit hat until they grow out, of course. Are you ready to indulge in the big bang, lovelies?

Sealed with a Cinch Darlings, nothing would please me more than receiving a love letter from a cute boy that is sealed with an adorable kiss; but at present time my thoughts are on my planned wardrobe for fall and only that. Thus, while I would welcome a petite note proclaiming ones undying affections towards yours truly, for the time being I can’t help but feel that a splendrous wool coat sealed with a cinch would be much more capable of sending warm shivers up and down my spine. It’s true, while a coat of many colors would undoubtedly leave me in a state of sublimation; I feel that one with a little belted waist, ideal for sculpting the perfect hourglass shape, would be much more beneficial to my current cravings. No girl should be expected to survive without a little Opening Ceremony in her life; thus the Pleated Trench, so reminiscent of a flirty frock, is an absolute must for the mademoiselle who craves warmth with a sprinkle of trendsetting cosmopolitanism. The Rianna Military Coat, with its shiny, oversized silver buckle closure is the preemptive way to dress up a simple pair of skinnies and black over the knee boots. A Peter Pan collar and vintage brown buttons provides a juxtaposition between savvy sophistication and Lolita naïveté for Tulle’s Hazelnut Herringbone Coat – a retro number which makes it a…cinch to channel your inner Mad Men-obsessed fashionista. And for all of you lovelies looking to make a true statement, it’s absolutely impossible to go wrong with the Pleated Houndstooth Victoria Coat by Jack by BB Dakota. Are you ready to be sealed with a cinch?

Count Chocula A year without Count Chocula for me was like a year without Christmas. I could care less about Franken Berry or Boo Berry, my childhood tastes craved only the flavors of cocoa and marshmallows mingling together in one bowl. I ate it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a time; but after the mistake of stocking up on ten boxes which I hoped would last me the year until Halloween rolled around and Count Chocula emerged once again on grocery store shelves, I lost all taste for them. I suppose that is the sort of tragedy destined to occur when things go stale. Luckily, my rancid experience with Count Chocula did not make me shy away from chocolate all together. In fact, it only served to mold my cocoa-laced desires to more grown-up tastes. Now I covet the Tame Animal Crackers from Rich Chocolates & Candies, whimsical animal-shaped candies crafted out of white, dark, and milk chocolate. I am riddled with urges for Dipped from Frankie’s Fruit & Chocolate, yummy dried fruits dipped in rich dark chocolate. And the decadent Chocolate Covered Strawberries from Fannie May? Quite frankly, I find it impossible to get the scrumminess off my mind. Oui, it’s a more refined version of Count Chocula; but every bit as enjoyable!

G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that by winning a simple giveaway over at Nubia’s Nonsense that I would become blatantly besotted with the independent, Elizabeth, New Jersey-based fashion and accessory line gla.MAR.ous; but from the moment I removed Pamela from the shipping envelope, I was smitten. Using unconventional zippers, in addition to bows, metallic trims, shimmering appliqués, and sequins galore, Mary Beirne crafts the most heavenly hairpieces that feature flashy Twenties, flapper flare paired with modern touches that I, for one, am completely incapable of resisting. The next pieces that definitely need to make their way into my world? The oh-so Blair Waldorf Katie Bow in Gold, which I plan on pairing with the very froufrou Birthday Dress/Skirt. Don’t second-guess your desire to buy kittens; just remind yourself of this one thing…all purchases are excusable, because you’re glamorous, of course!

What were you smitten with this week?

Fashionably yours!

Smitten Saturday

Head Case Over the years I’ve accumulated seemingly hundreds of headbands, but yesterday I came to the conclusion that out of them all, there are only three to five that I use – the rest have gone untouched for quite some time now. And, to be completely truthful, I see no possibility of me wearing them anytime soon. I want to do an overhaul and start a new collection with pieces that are playful yet polished; sassy yet smart; elite yet everyday. The problem is, I acquired my treasured collection when there was a single style to choose from; now there are hundreds. Should I go the embellished route and select pieces like bebe’s Crystal Flower Double Headband? Take a cue from Gatsby’s beloved Daisy and opt for something Twenties-influenced a la Free People’s Flapper Flower Headband? Go completely back to the Woodstock days via Victorian Hippie’s Roxanne Grace for Victorian Hippie Sparkle Headband? Channel my inner Park Avenue princess Blair Waldorf through Juicy Couture’s Grosgrain Bow Headband; or go all Lady Gaga with Marc by Marc Jacobs’ Runway Bow Headband? Do you see, darlings? Now do you understand why I’m such a head case at the moment? There are too many choices! Perhaps I should simply renege on my plans of making over my headband caboodle, and simply allow my hair to flow free in the same manner as the blissfully beautiful Brigitte Bardot. Sounds like a plan to me!

Uptown Girl Does it plague you as well, darlings? The inability to simply make up your mind regarding what your soap scent du jour is when you clickety-clack into the parquet floored foyer of the heavenly scented hand soap hall of fame (aka Bath & Body Works). It’s an overwhelming predicament that hits me like a ton of bricks during each one of my impromptu visits. What will I have today – Warm Vanilla Sugar or Vanilla Noir? Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, or Sweet Pea? Cherry Blossom, or Cotton Blossom? Country Apple, or Irresistible Apple? Oh, I know it sounds quite trivial, but this is serious stuff. We’re talking about how we smell here – and we want to smell divine! So divine that I end up leaving the store with every scent that captures my attention – I am incapable of making even the simplest of decisions, I should note. In kind, my discovery of Uptown Soap Co.’s Two-Scented Soap comes none too soon. No longer will I deliberate between favorites – I’ll simply devour two scents in one – Chocolate + Mint (who could possibly resist such an indulgent combination?), Vanilla + Violets (a double shot of sweet), and Rose + Orange (the color alone – pink! – says it all). Join the sweet-scented revolution, Uptown Girls!

Someone’s In the Kitchen with Dinah Attribute it to the burgeoning Suzy Homemaker in me, but I find it hard to resist the lure of a recipe box. They are some of the most quaint, homey items one can add to their kitchen. I bought one a few years back that is stuffed full of recipes (all desserts), all of which I’ve never tried – but I will someday. Probably. Then someone bestowed a little wooden one on me last year – a piece that I can paint, with four tiny interchangeable wood inserts that I can switch out for each season. This one remains empty, and unpainted. I’m beginning to see a pattern here, loves. Maybe it’s not in the cards for me to actually peruse these pieces. Maybe I’m simply destined to have a shelf lined with recipe boxes in my kitchen. A glorious little assemblage of all different shapes and sizes. Yes, that must be it. Thus, it’s not strange for me to be eyeing new pieces – it’s totally normal, in fact. FineStationary’s Bon Appetit Recipe Box embellished with illustrated people in chef ensembles is a favorite. The kitschy colors found adorning Tatutina’s Recipe Box – Cup have the power to brighten up any room it happens to find itself in. America Retold’s Cookbook Stand with Recipe Drawers in Antique White is a blissful piece of retro sublimity. But no, my favorite is not amongst the aforementioned selections. The apple of my eye is the Tiffany blue Martha Stewart Collection Recipe Box. A piece that, well, on occasion, you may find packed to the gills with my beloved cocktail rings. But I’m sure you won’t mind, darlings!
Fringe Binge I’ve recently discovered that I have a love/hate relationship with fringes, of all things. Part of me adores them, while the other feels that they are too hippie to work for everyday wear in the twenty-first century. The only thing I can think to do in order to please the warring sides of my brain is to indulge in fringes in small doses. No more complete fringe binges – I’ll have to choose one, and only one fringe-encrusted item to add to my wardrobe. What item have I chosen? Why one of my most favorite things of the moment – a vest! Mink Pink’s Fringe Benefits Vest is a sublime juxtaposition between hippie and rock and roll – not to mention the color is pure heaven. Urban Outfitters’ Reformed Silk Fringe Vest is a more polished take on the trend that would work wonders in the office or out on the town. Xhilaration’s Fringe Vest is a chic and cheap piece easily tossed on over any top in your closet. And the Torn by Ronny Kobo Heidi Leather Vest with Long Fringe? Well, who doesn’t love a yeti-inspired silhouette?!

Falling for Patagonia I blame it on Couture Carrie. I devour her blog daily with the same fervor in which I down White Chocolate Mocha’s from Starbucks; thus I was incapable of resisting the lure of visiting PatagoniaGIFTS after seeing a pendant or two on her blog last week. Dear CC, you are going to be the ruination of my bank account. You already know how much I adore the fall season, and now you’ve introduced me to glittering Gold Leaf Pendants that so perfectly capture the essence of the Autumn months? Shame on you – or, rather, shame on me, for I simply can’t help myself. I’ll take the Maple Leaf Autumn Gold Pendant Necklace, the Real Leaf Autumn Gold Pendant, the Maple Leaf Gold Pendant Necklace, and since we’re already in the buying mood, we might as well toss in the Birch Leaf Gold Pendant. Oui, I’m falling for Patagonia and I have no one to blame but the celestial CC!

E. Jean la Reine E. Jean is not a royal residing in some far off fabulous country draped in yards and yards of cascading silk, satin, and lace; nor is she an individual you see splashed about the covers of check-out stand tabloids in the market. Even so, I hold the enchanting E. Jean in the utmost highest regard possible. In my mind, she is a celebrity of sorts, and one of the top reasons why I pick up ELLE each month. Before the fashion editorials and book reviews have been devoured, I flip to her column and take in each of the questions that she has deemed worthy of answering for the month – dating advice, fashion, shopping, she answers it all; after which I gaze affectionately upon her look du jour – always something dazzling and accessorized with cocktail rings and necklaces galore. She drips elegance, refinement, posh. Let me tell it to you straight, dolls, it’s simply impossible for me to think of the divine E. Jean as anything less than a Queen!

Smitten Saturday

Beau-ed Over In preparation for Anna Sui’s Gossip Girl-inspired arrival at Target, I have begun the hunt for magical hair accessories to truly bring out the oftentimes beastly Blair that lies deep within me. Adornments that will add a fierce pizzazz to the flirty, vintage-like frocks that have the designer’s name written all over them; and now, I have found many that perfectly fit the bill from my new favorite shop – Andrea’s Beau. The Dupioni Silk Bow Headband in slate blue would look simply lovely paired with this white wonder. The Velvet Open Rose Adjustable Headband in wine would add such a wonderful pop of crimson against this all-black beauty. And there’s simply no question in my mind that the Floral Paillette Adjustable Soft Headband in pumpkin would add an extra kick of sass to this spicy number. Oui, I’m undoubtedly beau-ed over!

Park It! I suppose I’ve known you all long enough to make you privy to a little tidbit that not many close to me are aware of. Online shopping? Well, to put it bluntly, it’s quite an obsession of mine. Yet even I, a skilled Online shopper find that locating the perfect piece to fit the picture in your mind can be downright drudgery at times; which is why I’ve become quite reliant on 25Park. Namely, their quintessential Quick Guides, which literally point you in the right fashion direction depending on the type of event, or style you’re shopping for. Sixteen different categories – The Lady Who Lunches, Sexy Attire, The Working Woman, Boho Chic, The Pregnant Girl, Great Gift Item, Formal Attire, Bang For Buck, Bridal/Baby Shower, Cocktail Attire, Rehearsal Dinner, Beach Attire, Press Clippings, Warm Weather, Great Holiday Attire, Ski Bunny – cover every fashion predicament you may find yourself in, and give you the ability to make finding what you’re searching for an absolute cinch. If you must know, I’m off to visit them right now. What am I looking for today? Hmmm...perhaps some Cocktail Attire.

A Rush of Beauty to the Lips You will never find me out and about with anything less than six – count that, six – tubes of lip gloss taking up residence in my handbag. No, I don’t keep them on hand for those moments infiltrated with stolen kisses from the bevy of cute boys who come in and out of my life; I’m simply addicted, and can’t be without the fruity-tasting shine sticks. Hence, due to my years of devotion to lip gloss, I count myself as an expert on the subject of all things glossy, and proclaim here that the greatest gloss on the planet? Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush. In less than a year I’ve used Mango Madness, Bubble It Up, Grapefruit Blast, and Strawberry Fizz, four flavors that were glorious to the very last drop. High, long-lasting shine; yummy, scrummy flavors. Darlings, it’s a rush of beauty to the lips!
Miss Marc Roald Dahl’s Matilda one of my favorite books since the first time I read it back in the first grade. In my mind, I was Matilda, sans the nasty, uncaring parents. I even purchased a doll that was the spitting image of the patchwork toy Matilda lugged around with her; a doll whom is sitting in the garage right now, and who looks quite a bit like the kitschy, bug-eyed, raven-haired Miss Marc thought up by the marvelous Marc Jacobs. A discovery, of course, which leads me to believe that my newfound obsession with the Miss Marc in question has quite a bit to do with my devotion to the fiction of my childhood. L'un numéroter on my Miss Marc lust list? The Miss Marc Ballet Flats. Next in line is the Miss Marc Tote with Beach Accessories. And, not to be forgotten, the Little Miss Marc Cover-Up because a day at the beach surely isn’t complete without a little company from Miss Marc. Not to mention that the peachy color, back keyhole, and tres chic gathers simply make me giddy. Have you met Miss Marc?

Baby Love I have just come to a very important realization. While babies are tres adorable and fun to play with; I’m beginning to think that one of the underlying reasons for people to want to have babies has quite a bit to do with the perfectly charming favors they can hand out at their baby showers! Regardless of the fact that I’m not attending a baby shower myself, nor am I having a baby of my own, I happened to be browsing Baby Shower Favors the other day and...well, I’m sorry to admit, I found many things that I desperately want. The Two Peas in a Pod Candle is just about the sweetest thing I have ever laid eyes on, and brings back memories of my childhood love for Cabbage Patch Kids dolls – one of which is still sitting in my bedroom. The Classic Pram Favor Boxes with Unique Expandable Bonnets are reminiscent of the carriages seen being pushed up and down Park Avenue by posh society ladies, and would look rather divine decorating a glossy bureau – or even my desk at work! The Magic Slippers Shoe Bottle Opener are a well-heeled treat for the shoe obsessed, and a necessity for the kitchen. And the Enchanted Carriage Favor Boxes? If I must confess...they make me feel like Cinderella. I wonder if someone would think me strange if I threw a Baby Shower with no guest-of-honor to be spoken of; just for the fun of it, and the opportunity to buy some of these Baby Shower Favors!

A O-K Pop Over the past three years that I have been visiting the deliciously wicked Perez Hilton, I have become well-aware of one very important thing...Perezzie? Well, he has the most divine taste in music, always managing to discover new talents before they have actually been discovered. His current musical crush du jour? South Korea’s K-pop girl group Wonder Girls. They’re supremely cute, with fun retro-inspired fashions and hairstyles. If their debut U.S. single Nobody is any indication, they’re amazingly talented. And, obviously, they’re destined for stardom in the States. Love them!

Tip Top

Obsessed. That is the only term that I can use to accurately describe my feelings towards top hat hair accessories. I don’t like them. I don’t dislike them. Yet for some inexplicable reason they interest me in a way that no other piece of headwear has before.

They are very reminiscent of the Mad Hatter’s headpiece of choice in the adorable yet oftentimes trippy Alice in Wonderland. Yet possess a little slice of gentleman’s flair; in addition to girly touches – feathers, mesh netting, bows, ribbons – to make them fabulously feminine as well.

Top hats? Terrific. Headbands? Never leave home without one. Top hats and headbands together? It’s a look that makes me say hmmm...

Is this a statement accessory that you could see yourself buying and wearing while out and about; or would you steer clear of it should you spot it in a store during a shopping spree?

Princess for a Day

Blame it on my many re-reads of Meg Cabot’s The Princess Diaries, or too many years of spoiling myself with Disney fairytales, but I have always wanted to be a modern-day princess, complete with jeweled tiara, elegant ball gowns, and, of course, a handsome Prince Charming. Sadly, wearing tiaras in everyday life isn’t exactly embraced by society, and doing so would make you stick out like a sore thumb. But Jennifer Behr’s hair accessories are the most elegant way to pay tribute to tiaras and envelop the royal in you – even if you’re decked out in denim.

The Encrusted Crystal Padded Headband is, in the words of Mary Poppins, “practically perfect in every way.” Piles upon piles of glimmering Swarovski crystals are hand-stitched to a midnight black padded headband creating an angel-inspired halo effect that is absolutely heavenly.

Maybe Ms. Behr is as enamored with F. Scott Fitzgerald as I am, because this Petite Vined Crystal Headwrap is so evocative of the Roaring Twenties that it makes me slaphappy. To slip this sparkly beauty on while wearing a fringe-encrusted Badgley Mischka would make me feel like a true flapper – a regal one, that is.

Most likely you are ready to wring my neck due to the amount of times I have mentioned the hippie headband, but I can’t help myself, I love it. Almost as much as I love this Knotted Crystal and Chain Headwrap. This piece of dazzling decadence is the princess version of the hippie headband. Laced with crystals and vintage chains, then braided and stitched with a vintage ribbon, this majestic piece can be worn circlet-style or the way of the traditional headband. I want to wear it circlet style, of course, with big, teased hair – it would look so Roman/Greek Goddess inspired if worn in this fashion.

In my world – and it’s a happy world at that – lace = love. And nothing says love like this Wide Crystal Lace Headwrap. It’s ethereal. It’s dainty. It’s sophisticated. I could most certainly see a ballerina wearing this on stage, or the late Princess Di donning one during an opulent ball filled with nobles and dapper gentleman. Oh, how I covet this morsel of magnificence.

I am green with envy over the Giant Crystal Knot Headwrap – especially the emerald offering. Who could possibly pass up the opportunity to flaunt an eye-catching knot of Swarovski crystals atop their head? In the world of make-believe (or reality) it simply isn’t done.

Bloomin' Belts

I am really not the biggest fan of belts, but I love these flower numbers from ban.do. They remind me quite a bit of the sashes that used to adorn the dresses I wore as a child (which came attached, an obvious indication that even the manufacturers knew they would wind up lost), or the lovely ribbons that you tear to pieces on Christmas morning as you struggle to discover the true contents inside that large rattling box. The colors offered are very muted and ethereal – ranging from ballerina pink, antique rose, taupe, gray... - and would look absolutely gorgeous cinched around the waist of a flowy dress; and, if wrapped a few times, may make for a lovely seventies-inspired headband. I am completely enamored with these belts. So enamored in fact that I am unable to so much as choose a favorite – I adore them all!

The Fabulous Imperative

In her book Savvy Girl, Lynn Messina introduced me to the phrase “The Fabulous Imperative.” According to her fictional character Lily, The Fabulous Imperative basically means “Whenever you’re invited to a fabulous party, you’re obligated to go.” No party is involved in this particular equation; however, I have discovered that the term can also be attributed to shopping. As in, if I find a new item that I’m in love with, I’m obligated to buy it. That said, here are my Fabulous Imperatives of the week.

A fashionista’s playground.

Colorful tea cups with a creative bonus!

Cupcakes that bloom right before your eyes.

Ring around the...posie?

Eat like Ralph Lauren.

The one thing you need to turn your kitchen into an at-home café.

Bow love.

A lamp with nine lives.

What are your fabulous imperatives of the week?

Smitten

Despite a few minor technicalities with my cell phone yesterday, I am smitten with everything surrounding me and have been all week. I’m smitten by the new office I will be sitting in at work that is slightly reminiscent of the color pink, which totally reminds me of Hello Kitty! I’m smitten with the Bear the Beagle necklace that came in the mail yesterday from ShopHullabaloo. And I’m smitten with the fact that I aced my first ever Accounting test. These are just a few of the other things that I’m smitten with this week...

Futuristic cocktail rings.

Geek love in the form of a book.

A headband made for romance.

Scrummy muffins in a can.

Wedge sandals that are pink, perky, and absolutely perfect!

Sixties-inspired coin purses.

An elegant hiding place for your teeny tiny treasures.

Robot love.

Green Scene

I've been the victim of one too many unexpected pinches over the years due to the fact that I typically forget St. Patrick's Day. Not this year! I refuse to suffer at the hands of those who have the good sense to remember the leprechaun-loving day just so they can wreak havoc upon those who have more important things on their mind. Thus, my selections for staying safe on St. Patrick's Day.

I typically opt for metallic-colored headbands when I make my selections for hair-adornments; but this Mini Crystal Centered Flower Headband from bebe is calling out to me. The color is reminiscent of fresh grown grass, and the little flower looks so much like a four-leaf clover that I can't help but think of finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow simply by wearing this lovely piece of hair perfection.

Shift dresses are, perhaps, the most adorable addition to the dress family. One, they are extremely versatile, looking perfect paired with tights, leggings, or bare legs; two, they possess such an effortless, playful look to their structure; and three, they seem to look good on every body type. So you can imagine my pleasure at spotting this Geren Ford Kelly Green Silk Rivet Detail Mini Dress. The color is breathtaking. The material is a dream. And the cut is spectacular. I'll take two please!

Big handbags are my favorite. I like knowing that I can toss anything from books to barrettes, and iPod's to eyeliner into their fashionable depths. But even I was enthralled at the discovery of this Roberto Cavalli Serpent Bracelet Clutch. The emerald color is to-die-for; but the thing that truly speaks to me is the fact that the typical cloth-created wristlet is replaced by a gold serpent-inspired cuff that doubles as an oh-so-chic bracelet.

Flouncy skirts make the heart grow fonder; and this kelly green Thick-Knit Jersey Skirt from American Apparel is no exception. The raw edges and elastic waistband make it a perfectly adorable and trendy way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon paired with a beat-up sweatshirt, or paint the town red by pairing it with a rhinestone-encrusted tank fit for a queen. And the best part? At just $19 each, it doesn't break the bank.

Skinny jeans are like a way of life. Without them, I don't know how anyone could survive. While I typically rock dark wash denim skinnies, I can't help but love these Kelly Green Super Skinny T-Jeans from Tripp NYC. The color is mind-blowingly spectacular, and would look amazing dressed up or dressed down with just about anything in your closet. All I can say is...gimme, gimme, gimme!

Strawberry Fields

"Let me take you down
Cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real
And nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever"

The Beatles, "Strawberry Fields Forever"

Maybe it has something to do with the unseasonably warm weather, but there's a part of me that can't help but imagine tossing on my cotton paisley print babydoll dress, and skipping through a strawberry field. My hair being tousled by the breeze, a red stain on my fingertips from picking (and eating) too many berries. It just sounds like the absolute perfect way to spend a warm, sunshine-filled afternoon. But, since I'm currently eating lunch, behind a desk, inside an office, the closest I can get to strawberry fields is my imagination - and these adorable strawberry-printed fashions that I'm just dying to get my hands on!

Nothing reminds me more of the summertime than gingham and bikinis. This Strawberries and Gingham Black 2-Piece Halter Bandeau Tie Side Bikini from Fashion Bloom USA combines the best of both worlds, and even goes so far as to toss in an adorable pink and red strawberry print that is good enough to eat!

Rings have been one of my favorite things since birth. I used to pair them with every outfit. This particular Strawberry Ring from Cherry Red Boutique brings back such memories. It also reminds me of my childhood hero - Strawberry Shortcake.

Even when it comes to strawberries, I can't deny my inner Blair Waldorf, which is why I'm absolutely craving this Betsey Johnson Strawberry Hard Head Band. The strawberry looks so lifelike, and the colors are enough to make me swoon. I could see it looking absolutely darling with the Betsey Johnson Strawberries Babydoll Dress, Betsey Johnson Strawberry Daisy Chiffon Trapeze Mini Dress, or even just a solid-colored frock or jeans.

Naughty Secretary Club's Strawberry Bangle is the perfect accessory if you're simply looking to add a splash of juicy, fresh-picked elegance to your ensemble. It also possesses the childlike playfulness that I love to embrace.

Necklaces and the color pink are just two of my passions. In fact, you will rarely see my neck bare - it's always adorned by a scarf or a necklace. Which is why I was so taken by Max & Chloe's Sydney Evan Pink Sapphire Strawberry Necklace. The pink sapphires and gold are a nice contrast to one another, while the little gold leaves add an undeniable sophistication to the piece. It may cost an arm and a leg - $1,685.00 - but, like they say in the L'oreal commercials, "because you're worth it."

Earrings, earrings, earrings. Is it just me, or do you feel like your lobes are naked when they aren't adorned with earrings? Well, for the strawberry lover I have found the most precious Glass Strawberry Earrings by Elizabeth Johnson Art Glass that will make you feel all dressed up - even if you're simply lounging around the house in your sweats!

Sometimes I feel as if "vintage" is my middle name. I absolutely adore anything that looks handcrafted, or a little old-fashioned, which is why I'm so taken with this Berryliscious Bracelet from Naughty Secretary Club. The buttons, the silver tones...they're absolutely precious. I could honestly see anyone from June Cleaver to Gwen Stefani rocking this darling accessory.

Crowning Glory

Once upon a time in a land far, far away, there lived a beautiful, golden-haired princess who spent her days prancing in the palace gardens alongside her snow white unicorn...

Okay, okay. As much as we'd all love to be princesses with unicorns to call our own, the only way it will ever happen is if a prince comes along and asks for our hand in marriage. But I can't help but feel like a princess, complete with crown, when I see those headbands that rest around your forehead as opposed to upon your head.

Part chic, part rock star, part bohemian. These little jewels seem to add a little glimmer and glitz to even the drabbest of outfits. Yet as much as I adore them, I can't help but find myself scared to even try one on for size.

At times they seem Rambo-like; others, they appear ethereal. But the thought of wearing one in everyday life seems kin to wearing bowling shoes on the street - totally taboo!

Is this a trend for the layman, or a celebrities-only accessory? Can you, your best friend, or even the lady down the street rock one while window shopping; or is it exclusive to Peaches Geldof, Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, Mischa Barton, Mary-Kate Olsen and the like?

Thoughts please!

Birds of a Feather

I'll admit that when I first spotted those feathered headbands and peacock hairclips I thought that they were a bit outrageous. Since then I've had a change of heart.

There's something so 1920's flapper girl/Daisy Buchanan about the feathered accessories; just looking at them makes me want to drape myself in short sequined skirts, bob my hair, slip on my dancing shoes, and move.

My only predicament is choosing a color. Do you buy the blue/green/purple peacock style that will surely show up in your hair; or do you stick with the brown dappled design that will blend in a bit more, but still make a statement? Or maybe I should make a compromise and settle for the navy blue offering. It's subtle yet adds an undeniably beautiful pop of color.

Is it wrong that I'm longing for all three? Should I simply turn away from this purchase and set my sights on something new, or opt for the old-time favorite - eeny meeny miny moe - to help me make my decision? And, if I do take the plunge and make this - albeit minor - investment, do you think that I could wear it to work? Sure, I get away with wearing skinny jeans, brightly colored scarves, leopard print ballerina flats, and trendy jewelry to work; but would feather-adorned hair be pushing the envelope when it comes to office attire?

Oh, but all that aside, in the words of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory's Veruca Salt, "I want it now!"
