La Tribu Branchée

Khaki is not meant to be chic. It’s a color that instantly makes you think of muddy treks across dry, sand-covered saharas. Of wide-open spaces populated by mosquitoes and other creepy-crawlies. Of excursions through caves and shrub-covered plains. But no, Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock, the design duo dynamos behind Vena Cava, refuse to accept such a fate for the kitschy khaki. They decline to welcome such thoughts. Instead, they have taken the color under their wing in the hopes of turning it into something more sophisticated, as illustrated by way of the Printed Khaki DressGap coupons.

Typically with such a frock, you would need a statement necklace to add a slice of sophistication and glitz to the neutral-toned wonder. So is not the case with the Printed Khaki Dress, as wrapped about the neckline is an ebony-hued tribal design that adds a sense of drama to the simple silhouette. Reminiscent of a built-in coal-colored shawl, the end result is an ensemble that is slinky yet inky.

The elasticized waist cinches the free-falling finery in the same matter as would a belt, which provides a splendrous bit of ruching that is fashionable yet fun; while the short sleeves make this a bit that would look divine worn either day or night.

Slip on a pair of flat, open-toed sandals; yank your hair out of its tight chignon to let it fall cheekily about your shoulders; and let yourself go. After all, don’t you want to be a member of la tribu branchée – or, in more simple terms, the trendy tribe?

Fashionably yours!

Thanks to Gap for the pictures.
